Thomas G. Staples - Treasurer

  • Has been treasurer of the Southeastern California Conference since 1994. He had spent the previous two years at La Sierra University on study leave, earning an M.B.A. degree in marketing and serving as a student finance advisor.
  • Treasurer, Southeast Asia Union, from 1983 to 1992.
  • Secretary-treasurer, Middle East Union, from 1978 to 1983.
  • Secretary-treasurer, Ethiopia Union, from 1975 to 1978.
  • Accountant, Afro-Mideast Division, from 1971 to 1975; Northern California Conference, from 1970 to 1971; Union Ice Company, San Francisco, from 1967 to 1970.
  • Graduated from Pacific Union College, Angwin, California, with a double major in religion and business.
  • Holds an ordained/commissioned minister credential.Preaches in local churches; participates in ordination services and special occasions at churches such as groundbreaking ceremonies, dedications and anniversaries.
  • Serves as custodian and administrator for the tithe and offerings submitted by local churches in the conference; supervises the administration of gifts, legacies and bequests made to the conference; arranges for an audit of the conference financial records once each calendar year; supervises and arranges for the audit of all local church financial records.
  • Chairs the Insurance and Employee Benefits and Investment committees and the Property and Trust Services and Augusta P. Stahlheber boards.
  • Pastor Staples and his wife, Karen, have three children, with two working in Riverside, California, and one in Alaska.
  • Pastor and Mrs. Staples spend much of their free time outdoors, enjoying their hobbies of sailing, bicycling, photography and gardening.
